To date, frame housebuilding is one of the most developed technologies in the world construction industry. Thanks to the wide range of wooden frame applications, its cost-effectiveness, quality and rationality, 80% of private houses in western countries are erected with use of wooden frame technology.
The main element of a frame house is the frame module produced of LVL beams, 200×45 mm, with heat insulation of 200 mm in thickness thoroughly inserted in it and outer and inner covering with LVL panels and concrete backerboard. Relatively low weight of structures allows to perform assembly works without heavy construction equipment.
Main advantages of frame technology
Compared to other types of low-rise housebuilding, the frame technology has a considerable advantage in terms of the price/quality ratio.
Depending on a particular space-planning decision, cost-effectiveness may reach 40% due to:
— minimal material consumption,
— factory fabrication of elements of wall panels and roof structures, which insures accuracy of sizes and absence of labour consuming on-site adjusting, — short terms of construction (it takes three to four weeks to construct an average cottage block without lifting mechanisms).
Strength properties of structural elements allow to make at least two storeys. Within the framework of the programme “Affordable Housing”, LVL-Stroyproekt performs construction of low-rise (up to two storeys) public buildings by the frame-panel technology in rural areas (hospitals, schools, and administrative buildings).
