The Chairman of the Board of Directors of Ugra Timber Holding, Vice-Chairman of the Government of Khanty-Mansyisk Autonomous Region Mr. Valery Bobylev believes that products of LVL-Ugra (laminated veneer lumber) is not efficiently enough used in the region.
Today, according to Mr. Bobylev, such products are used for construction purposes in St. Petersburg, the Moscow Oblast, and other regions of the Russian Federation, and exported to European countries. "Regional construction industry uses this material very little", - said Mr. Bobylev at a meeting organized by the Regional Construction Department on the issues of promotion of LVL-Ugra products.
The following people also participated in the meeting: Vice-Chairman of the Government of Khanty-Mansyisk Autonomous Region Mr. Kirill Morozov, Vice-Chairman of the Government of Khanty-Mansyisk Autonomous Region Mr. Gadzhy Amirov, Director of the Regional Construction Department Mr. Georgy Natalusha, Deputy Director of the Construction Department Mr. Valery Stener, Deputy Direrctor of the Regional Department for State Property Management Mr. Konstantin Ternovoy, General Director of Ugra Timber Holding Mr. Yuri Kraev, General Director of LVL-Ugra Mr. Petr Zakharov, Director of LVL-Stroyproekt Mr. Nikolay Gordeev, General Director of the Scientific Research Institute NIIPlesdrev (Tyumen) Mr. Sergay Murar.
One of the reasons, due to which use of LVL in construction industry of the region is being constrained, is lack of research work related to units and connections of span structures over 12 m long for their certification. In the course of the meeting, a resolution was adopted to request NIIPlesdrev to perform scientific research works necessary for further certification of long-span LVL structures.
As soon as all necessary documents are obtained, LVL beams will be applied in construction of various sport facilities in KhMAR. There are more than 70 objects scheduled for construction in the region within the next three to four years.
Ugra Timber Holding was established in February 2004 upon the initiative of the Government of KhMAR holding 100% shares of the company. The Holding comprises such mills as LVL-Ugra, Ugra Saw Mills, LVL-Stroyproekt and Ugratransservice.
In 2006, LVL-Ugra produced 24 thousand cub. m of laminated veneer lumber.
